Montpellier vs Brest Match Preview


On Sunday Feb 12th, in week 23, Montpellier hosts Brest in a clash of these two evenly matched Ligue 1 teams. The game day is forecasted to be a cloudy and cool day, with daytime temperatures of only 8 degrees, so hopefuly the match makes up for the weather. Montpellier sits at 15th place in the tables. In their last match they recorded a 0-2 loss against Strasbourg. Habib Diallo struck first for Strasbourg in the 1st minute on a feed from Morgan Sanson, then Habib Diallo added another in the 45th minute At the end of 90 a dissapointed Montpellier couldn’t manage to score, and Strasbourg took the shutout win. They’re hoping to improve on their recent performance, having earned only 8 points in their last 10 matches, while in their last match, 14th placed Brest, recorded a 1-1 draw against Lens. Jérémy Le Douaron struck first for Brest in the 54th minute on a feed from Pierre Lees Melou, then Gradit tied it up for Lens in the 83rd minute squeezing out at least the one point for Lens. Brest is looking for direction having earned 11 points in their last 10 matches.

Montpellier and Brest last played eachother at the Stade Francis-le Ble on Aug 28th. Montpellier took the match by a score of 7 to 0. Faitout Maouassa struck first for Montpellier in the 6th minute, then Sepe Elye Wahi added another in the 10th minute on a feed from Wahbi Khazri In the end, Brest was frustrated by Montpellier’s defence and couldn’t put any tallies on the board. Montpellier ended the match with the shutout victory.

Both Steve Mounié and Jérémy Le Douaron have been the hottest scorers for Brest in the last five each having scored 2 goals each. Stephy Mavididi has been the most effective weapon for Montpellier lately. The English attacker has netted two goals in his last five matches

Michel Der Zakarian’s Montpellier squad will be without Pedro Mendes, Theo Sainte Luce, Wahbi Khazri, Jordan Ferri, Dimitry Bertaud, Boubakar Kouyate, Sepe Elye Wahi and , while Brest will be without Brendan Chardonnet and Achraf Dari.
