Montpellier vs Strasbourg Match Preview

Week 8 brings us a match on Sep 17th, where Strasbourg will travel to Montpellier to battle Montpellier in a meeting of these two Ligue 1 teams. The game day is forecasted to be a cloudy and cool day, with daytime temperatures of only 18 degrees, which is great football weather. 10th placed Montpellier is fresh off their 1-2 loss against Angers SCO. Arnaud Nordin struck first for Montpellier in the 7th minute on a feed from Faitout Maouassa, then Adrien Hunou tied it up for Angers SCO in the 9th minute Finally they completed the comback in the 69th minute on a penalty goal by Sofiane Boufal to cap off a wild match. Montpellier is looking for direction having earned 12 points in their last 10 matches, while 17th placed Strasbourg is fresh off their 0-0 scoreless draw against Clermont. Strasbourg had 13 on net, and Clermont had 11, but no one could beat the goalie, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw,. Strasbourg looks to improve on their recent performance, having earned only 8 points in their last 10 matches.

On Sun Jan 2nd, Montpellier hosted Strasbourg at the Stade De La Mosson in their last match together. Montpellier won by a score of 1 to 0. Mihailo Ristić scored the first goal for Montpellier in the 20th minute, and that single goal was all that was necessary as neither team could manage any more scoring In the end, Strasbourg was frustrated by Montpellier’s defence and couldn’t put any tallies on the board. Montpellier ended the match with the shutout victory.

Alexander Djiku and Habib Diallo are the top scorers for Strasbourg in the last 5 matches, but unfortunately they only have one goal. It’s hard to imagine having success with those stats. Wahi has been on a hot streak lately. In the last 5 games, the attacker has scored 4 goals for Montpellier

Olivier Dall’Oglio’s squad will be without Christopher Jullien, Pedro Mendes, Teji Savanier, Theo Sainte Luce, Wahbi Khazri, Valère Germain, Stephy Mavididi, Dimitry Bertaud and Jonas Omlin, while Strasbourg will be without Dimitri Liénard, Sanjin Prcić, Maxime Le Marchand and Eiji Kawashima.
